Efforts Continue in 2015 to Turn Recycled Materials Into Usable Products

It's wonderful to see manufacturers and other industries come together to keep recyclable packaging out of landfills and deliver it to recycling companies where it's sorted and repurposed. Vinyl recycling is at the top of the list along with plastics. One common waste that is partly responsible for ruining the environment is flexible packaging. Studies are underway to record how these items are currently sorted at recycling centers. Items like food packages, pet food bags, pouches for soups and other foods, and sandwich bags are counted after sorting to determine how effective the process really is. Studies hope to help the process and send more products to the correct facilities for recycling.

This website continues to grow each month beyond my wildest expectations—in fact, this year represents the 7th consecutive year of consistent growth. As before, this growth has occurred entirely from the support of readers like you—there is no advertising involved.

Thank you for sharing this website. But even more, thank you for sharing the life-giving message of owning less.

• The Facebook group grew from 200,000 to 320,000 followers.
• Twitter followers increased from 25,700 to 35,200.

• In November, our book Simplify was once again #1 in Self-Help on Amazon.

But the most significant successes this past year are not found in numbers:

• On November 1, we launched The Hope Effect, non-profit organization designed to improve how the world cares for orphans.
